第一部分The Value of Freedom是全書精華，須精讀，注釋也不要放過；第二部分Freedom and the Law是法學理論，哈耶剋梳理的西歐法治史功力很深，這部分最好也帶注釋精讀，但有些部分可斟酌處理；第三部分Freedom in the Welfare state是經濟理論，除論通脹、通縮部分外，過一遍即可。最後的Postscript很有名，須精讀。另外，此書一定要讀英文版，因為有些名詞是不可能準確翻譯過來的，有些句子意義也要慢慢琢磨，信鄧正來不如信自己。
評分不同於彆的自由主義，古典自由主義緻力於恢復人固有的自由，而非實現人自己試圖建構的自由 如果單論名字，《經濟學傢》（The Economist）可能會讓人以為它是本跟公眾沒有什麼直接聯係的學術刊物。 但看過這本時事周刊的人也許都知道，雜誌的名字跟雜誌的內容沒有什麼關係，...
