3要说布莱森有什么突出于共性之外的特点，表现在作品的内容方面，首先是他强烈的环保意识，无怪乎有评家把他的作品统称为eco-literature（生态文学）。布莱森不但在阿巴拉契山道上对美国国家园林服务局听任林木大片被伐提出严厉抨击，又对美国的汽车拜物教作了辛辣讽刺，更在回到英国约克郡作短访期间发表公开演说，坚决反对丑陋的高压电线塔污染约克郡谷地之美。
