一直想买，入手了，得看一阵子

　　所以当1987年施特劳斯学派真正浮出水面的时候（施特劳斯本人已于1973年逝世，而波普尔也于1984年逝世），相当具有喜剧色彩的事情发生了：当时的学术界铺天盖地的批评和嘲讽几乎彻头彻尾是波普尔民主主义的山寨（请原谅我用这个词）。所谓“民主与哲学”之争不就是施特劳斯批评过的“意识形态色彩”吗！当初波普尔试图用理性、合法性和效益原则建筑“民主优于哲学”的大厦，施特劳斯不愿意跟他辩论，多年以后，面对他的是“民主就是优于哲学”的罗蒂等人，这不是相讽刺的事情吗。据说“白痴是不可战胜的”，因为没有理性、没有共同语言，任何人都没法说服他。现在施特劳斯学派面对的“愤青是不可战胜的”的局面，未必不用归罪于当初施特劳斯对待波普尔的态度。

　　施特劳斯和沃格林联手封杀波普尔的故事许多人都知道，但为什么封杀就鲜有人去剖析了。这当然是因为施特劳斯本就以特立独行著称，他和沃格林在背后嘲讽波普尔的书信中也称“这封信不适合给没有资格的人看”。而且当时波普尔在美国学术界声名鹊起，“熟悉他的作品好象成了教授们的一项职责似的”，施特劳斯本就对学术界不抱信心，不站起来正面攻击波普尔也是可以理解的。于是，波普尔就这么莫名其妙的失去了芝大讲席。不过他也并不是毫不知情，因为在《开放社会及其敌人》的第二版里，他的一些声明和修改、补充明显是针对施特劳斯和沃格林两人的。
