A liberal society seeks not to impose a single way of life, but to leave its citizens as free as possible to choose their own values and ends. It therefore must govern by principles of justice that do not presuppose any particular vision of the good life. But can any such principles be found? And if not, what are the consequences for justice as a moral and political ideal? These are the questions Michael Sandel takes up in this penetrating critique of contemporary liberalism. 評分現在想起來，的確在早稻田的研究生課程裏，收益最大的就是Normative和Formal Model的課程。雖然早稻田號稱這幾年最擅長的是計量和實驗手法，可能和自己無法理解概論的那種或然性的世界觀有聯係。不過，那時候在課上，這一冊書的確是啓發相當大的著作。那時候因為同時也在學Game Theory，對共和主義的論點是非常抵觸的，沒有微觀基礎和個人層次的討論不是嗎? 多少的確有這樣的先入之見。不過，後來漸漸想起來，公共選擇論的個人主義方法論基礎的確議論非常簡潔明快。但是，民主的公共性在哪裏？沒有公共性的社會科學的理論，感覺多少是一種反民主的理論。嘛~あくまで印象論ですが、政治理論は確かに正解はないと感じていますね
評分 評分##接著昨天說的，這本真的是把正義論拆開揉碎地分析，Sandel還是有他的洞見的。（btw他當年在哈佛還是耶魯的政治哲學公開課真的不錯）但到頭來我覺得在理論層麵上，Rawls一個political citizen的概念就能把Sandel依賴的直覺拆掉十之八九。Rawls的問題在liberalism的實踐，但我覺得Sandel在實踐層麵上可能問題更大...
