張愛玲本名張煐，1920年9月30日生於上海，中國現代作傢。漂泊於上海、香港、天津、美國，成就傳奇一生。張愛玲的傢世顯赫，祖父張佩綸是清末名臣，祖母李菊耦是晚清洋務派領袖、朝廷重臣李鴻章的長女。

1932年，張愛玲在聖瑪利亞女中的校刊上發錶瞭她的短篇小說處女作《不幸的她》。1933年，在該校刊發錶她的第一篇散文《遲暮》。1934年，張愛玲完成《摩登紅樓夢》，父親張誌沂為之撰迴目。1943年和1944年的兩年中，連續發錶多篇轟動性的中短篇小說，包括《沉香屑第一爐香》、《傾城之戀》、《心經》、《金鎖記》等，在淪陷時期的上海一舉成名。1944年8月，鬍蘭成與張愛玲在上海秘密結婚。這之後，她又經曆瞭與鬍蘭成的分手，以及其父去世等事情。於1955年，張愛玲赴美國定居並結識瞭她的第二任丈夫賴雅……1967年10月8日，賴雅去世，張愛玲開始將清朝的長篇小說《海上花列傳》 翻譯成英文。

1995年9月8日，張愛玲被發現逝世於加州韋斯特伍德市羅徹斯特大道的公寓，終年75歲，其遺物則由友人宋淇、鄺文美夫婦處理，其中大部分交由皇冠齣版社收藏。
