作品人物性格鮮明，情節引人入勝，語言優美流暢，深愛群眾歡迎，素有“波蘭語言大師”之稱。 代錶作有揭露美國金錢至上和種族歧視的通訊集《旅美書簡》（1876），曆史小說三部麯《火與劍》、《洪流》、《伏沃迪約夫斯基先生》；描寫波蘭和立陶宛反對十字軍騎士團入侵，歌頌人民同仇敵愾，英勇戰鬥的代錶作著名曆史小說《十字軍騎士》。1896年，顯剋維支又完成瞭反映古羅馬暴君尼祿覆滅的充滿異國情調的長篇曆史小說《你往何處去》，1905年他因這部作品榮獲諾貝爾文學奬。
