對我這種對心理學感興趣的外行來說有普及知識，通俗易懂，非常好的大部頭。就是書可能在倉庫放太久瞭，外觀有損傷，不過不影響閱讀，準備自己給包個書皮，好好保護起來。

最早使用philosophia（愛智慧）和philosophos（愛智者）這兩個詞語的是畢達哥拉斯。據蓬托斯的赫拉剋利德在《論無生物》中記載，當畢達哥拉斯在同西庫翁或弗裏阿西亞的僭主勒翁交談時，第一次使用瞭philosophia（愛智慧）這個詞語，並且把自己稱作philosophos（愛智者）。畢達哥拉斯還說，在生活中，一些奴性的人生來是名利的獵手，而philosophos（愛智者）生來尋求真理。他明確地把愛智者歸到瞭自由人的行列，也把自由和真理聯係在瞭一起。
