The Silmarillion is an account of the Elder Days, of the First Age of Tolkien's world. It is the ancient drama to which the characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in whose events some of them such as Elrond and Galadriel took part. The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-Earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. 　　方平先生主编、主译的这个版本是头一个用诗体翻译的莎士比亚全集译本。莎士比亚戏剧的原貌是诗剧，是以素诗体（blank verse）为基本形式的诗剧，以诗体译诗体，尽量使译文在语气、语言节奏感上更接近莎剧原貌，是这个版本的最终诉求。还有并非无关紧要的是，这个译本是全新、最晚出的，方平先生又终生研究莎士比亚，生前是中国莎士比亚协会会长，国际莎士比亚协会执行理事。这个译本因此溶入了全新的莎学研究成果，每部剧作和诗歌作品之前均有“前言”——分析作品的艺术特色、人物形象和思想主题等，对这部作品做出恰如其分的综合评价；之后又附有简明扼要的“考证”——对此部作品

趁着打折买的，不过这书的质量确实对得起价格，很适合收藏用

花大价钱买这种精装书，本来就是用来收藏的，收到货我就震惊了，这是什么包装，一点保护措施都没有，直接套个京东的塑料袋就完事了，结果可想而知，造成外套书壳坑坑洼洼，极不美观，很失望。还是要找专门卖进口书的公司，那包装才是真正良心。
