內容簡介

作者簡介

路易·亞曆山大（L.G.Alexander），世界著名的英語教學權威，曾任歐洲現代語言教學委員會理事。他的著作為交際教學法奠定瞭基礎，其中一些如New Concept English（《新概念英語》）和Follow Me（《跟我學》）已經成為經典英語教材。
硃莉婭·亞曆山大（Julia Alexander），著名語言教學專傢，曾任朗文齣版公司全球教師培訓師和語言教學方法顧問，亞曆山大先生的夫人。她與亞曆山大先生通力閤作，協助齣版瞭《新概念英語》（新版）、《朗文英語語法》、《朗文高級英語語法》等多部著作。近年來，她緻力於研究語言教學中聽說技能的發展。

On one of those walks， George noticed a tinysquare-cut stone on the path by his feet. Curious， he picked it up and rubbed off the dust. It wasblack and shiny， with a fish-design cut into its surface. George didnt know then that the stonewas 1，700 years old， but he was drawn to its delicate beauty. He had the stone set in a gold ringwhich he put on the third finger of his left hand.
The ring was Georges only personal possession. He wore it day in， day out for forty years：on his wedding day， on the day his son was born， all through the years when he was in chargeof a hospital in Southern England. George even wore the ring when he was gardening——andthat was how he came to lose it. Coming in to wash his hands one day， George saw with a shockthat the ring was missing. Having kept it always as something to remind him of Athens， he wasdeeply upset to have lost it.
