##披著科幻皮的文藝小說,不知道為什麼讀著讀著總是會想到石黑一雄(雖然技法上沒得比,這本書的手法上唯一比較精彩就是書中書裏打字員的故事瞭)。設定上有很多事情都沒有講清楚,這也是這本小說屢被詬病的地方,不過我個人還蠻喜歡這一點的——不知道為什麼記憶警察要清除你的記憶,不知道他們什麼時候要清初你的記憶,甚至有時候都不知道自己具體被清楚瞭什麼,這種莫名其妙、匪夷所思、全無固定標準的審核製度,不就是現實最好的寫照麼?就跟Hitchcock的《群鳥》一樣,你不知道鳥為何而來,纔是最恐怖的地方。
