##从第一次读中译到第二次读英译，已经过去五六年光景，最爱的还是这一句: I was ever near you, and ever tense; but you were no more aware of it than you were aware of the tension of the mainspring of the watch in your pocket, faithfully recording the hours for you, accompanying your footsteps with its unheard ticking, and vouchsafed only a hasty glance for one second among millions.

是我最不喜欢的一本茨威格的书。故事里女人的感情太扭曲。英文版难度系数不大，难度在于读这种故事，是对我个人身心的折磨，好想把女主吊抽一顿！！
