作者簡介
Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

"While beginning readers are convinced that they are enjoying themselves with George, their supervising adults are equally sure that they are learning something. Both are absolutely right." Children's Literature Adored by many generations, Curious George is one inquisitive primate that will be around for ages. In this installment of the "Curious George" series, George is taken to the hospital after his curiosity gets the better of him, and he learns many things about what going to the hospital is all about. From X-rays to anesthesia, the scary prospect of going to the hospital is made a little less frightening when experienced through the eyes of one silly monkey. Just when you think that the excitement is over and George is ready to recover, his antics find him in one sticky situation after another, until the reader is left wondering what else he could possible get into. The story is rather long for young readers, and somewhat old-fashioned in writing style, but the entertainment value has not lessened despite its age. The book is newly released with an audio CD that contains two versions of the narrated story, one with page-turn signals and one without, which provides a new way for readers to enjoy a classic character in action. A useful addition to the early elementary classroom, whether it be on the bookshelf, as part of a listening center, or just to play aloud for the class as a group. Reviewer: Carly Reagan Fewer Reviews Children's Literature Alas, that lively monkey, George, has gotten into mischief once again. In this story, George must be taken to the hospital for an operation. George cries when separated from the Man with the Yellow Hat and screeches at his first glimpse of a needle. Through his eyes (and the colorful illustrations), children receive a sense of the hospital experience and enjoy a happy ending when a healthy George returns home with his friend.
