评分美棠的日子其实很苦,本是大家闺秀的她从小吃喝用度自是不用愁,偏偏生于动荡的大时代,世事变幻,生活落得贫苦,丈夫又被派遣劳教,不得不打散工挣钱以帮补家计。她信里常常提到钱不够用,好多东西需要购置。后来得知平如身体有恙,便不再谈起拮据的事情,倒是嘱咐他少寄钱回家,多吃营养食物。
