　　《中国哺乳动物多样性及地理分布》收录了中国（包括台湾地区）已知哺乳动物种类。通过收集整理正式出版文献中的哺乳动物编目资料和最新研究发现，《中国哺乳动物多样性及地理分布》作者根据最新的动物分类系统更新了中国哺乳动物多样性编目，经过甄别筛选，确定中国现有哺乳动物12目55科245属673种。此数据更新了中国哺乳动物记录。《中国哺乳动物多样性及地理分布》为中英文对照，由世界著名哺乳动物学家DonE.Wilson博士作序。前言回顾了中国动物学研究史、《中国哺乳动物多样性及地理分布》中中国哺乳动物编目的研究过程和中国哺乳动物学研究的未来方向。正文逐一介绍了每种中国哺乳动物的分类地位、学名、命名人、英文名、同物异名、种下单元、所在生境与生态系统、濒危状况、国家保护等级、IUCN红色名录、中国红色名录等级、CITES附录以及国内地理分布区和分布国家，并配有最新的物种分布图。
