　　allow oneself to do是“允許自己做……”的意思，也就是消除緊張去做平日裏不會去做的事情的意思（relax and be able to do sth unusual）。
　　be allowed to是被動語態，錶示“被允許做……”的意思，與 be not allowed to 的意思正好相反。

　　This is what it’s all about嚮對方做簡要的說明時使用。What about it?是“ 你想知道什麼？”的意思。
　　What about+ 名詞 /-ing 意為“……如何”。

　　as did... 或as was... 是“與……相同”的意思。
　　might / may as well 是“最好做……比較好”的意思， as well 一般齣現在文章的最後麵，是“與……相同”“……也是”的意思。

　　ask sb to do 是“要求某人做某事”的意思。
　　ask for 是“ 邀請/ 請求……”的意思，是很常見的錶達方式。而ask forit 是“ 自己招來瞭……”的意思，也是一種常用錶達。
　　ask sb out (on a date)是“提齣和……約會”的意思。
　　whatever you ask 錶示非常誠懇地滿足對方的囑托，還有一個意思是“無論……都不會去做”，具有否定意味。
　　don’t ask me 是“ 不要問我”的意思，也有“我也不知道”的意思。常常用來錶示完全不知道答案，或者是無所謂答案是什麼。
　　don’t ask 是“ 不知道更好”“彆問瞭”“閉嘴”的意思，一般用於迴答不好迴答的問題。

　　美劇風暴為什麼無法平息？
　　多年來，風靡全球的美劇主要以喜劇為主。但是現在，美劇已經進入瞭另樣化的發展階段：從Friends、Sex and the City到Desperate Housewives，以及關於破案的CSI，很多不同素材的美劇，就像海嘯一樣嚮我們襲來。當我們剛要平靜，斯科菲爾德的Prison Break像彗星一樣衝擊瞭大熒屏，此劇的齣現讓美劇粉絲再次歡呼起來。緊接著，又上演瞭Gossip Girl、Big Bang Theory、Good Wife等眾多優秀作品，為美劇迷們持續地帶來瞭快樂。
　　大傢之所以會對襲來的美劇風暴瘋狂，大體上可以從三個方麵來分析。
　　首先，美劇播放時並沒有使用配音的方式，而是用原聲+純英語字幕的形式讓美劇迷們看到瞭最純正的美劇。特彆是主打美劇的一些網絡播放平颱，觀眾隻要想看，就能在綫或下載，隨時隨地來欣賞美劇。其次，當今的社會越來越著重實際英語對話的能力，不再像以前僅看筆試的成績瞭。美劇讓人們接觸到瞭在生活中可以活用的英語，體驗到瞭美國的文化，使人們有一種越來越靠近美國的感覺。最後，很多非常火爆的美劇論壇讓粉絲有瞭可以相互交流的平颱，讓更多的人體會到在生活中說英語的樂趣。
　　我們該如何通過美劇學習英語呢？
　　雖然很多人知道通過美劇學英語是非常不錯的方法，但是想實現這一點卻不是那麼容易的事情。美劇並不是為中國人而拍攝的，所以劇中的對話語速飛快，再加上中國人對美國文化瞭解的不多，使得觀看美劇的人不知不覺地總會盯著下麵的字幕。最終，人們雖然投入瞭很多的時間和精力，但不僅沒有提高英語水平，反而降低瞭學習速度。我曾經說過，隻有瞭解更多的錶達方式纔能聽懂更多的內容，隻有不停重復這樣的過程纔能在不去美國的情況下完全掌握最純正的美式英語。所以，在本書中我們將會歸納使用頻率最高的對話，最大範圍地收集有關美劇的內容。
　　並非觀看美劇就能提高英語能力。首先，我們要掌握美劇中經常齣現的錶達方式，最大程度的熟悉並掌握這些內容，纔有可能達到提高英語能力的目的。本書中收錄的所有有關錶達方式的例文，都選用瞭接近當地Writer’s Group美劇錶達方式的內容。而且本書聽力選用的都是原音，隻要多讀，多聽，之前聽不懂或被忽略的部分漸
