He has devoted his paintings to Pete the Cat for fifteen years and has turned his natural love for cats into his life’s work. James published his first adult book, The Misadventures of Pete the Cat, a history of his artwork, in 2006. He illustrated his first self-published children’s book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, in 2008, and the follow-up book, Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, in 2011. 　　吉姆·凯，是帕特里克·奈斯的小说《恶魔呼唤》的插画绘制者，他的插画获得了2012年凯特·格林纳威奖。他曾在威斯敏斯特大学学习绘画，毕业后曾先后在泰特英术馆和英国皇家植物园工作。他在里奇蒙美术馆举办个展时，一位出版商看中了他的绘画，主动与他洽谈，自此开启了他的自由插画家生涯。
