The poems of Rabindranath Tagore are among the most haunting and tender in Indian　and world literature, expressing a profound and passionate human yearning. 作者：(印度)泰戈爾

泰戈爾（Rabindranath Tagore,1861-1941），印度作傢，詩人，社會活動傢，生於地主傢庭。曾留學英國。1921年創辦國際大學。一生創作豐富。1903年起陸續發錶長篇小說《小沙子》、《沉船》、《戈拉》，劇本《摩吉多塔拉》、《郵局》、《紅夾竹桃》，詩集《吉檀迦利》、《新月集》、《園丁集》和許多中、短篇小說。獲1913年諾貝爾文學奬。

Rabindranath Tagore (1861?1941), one of India?s greatest and most　prolific writers of the twentieth century, was awarded the 1913 Nobel Prize in　Literature.

William Radice is a poet, scholar, and translator of Bengali, who has written or edited　nearly thirty books. He has translated Tagore?s short stories and his novel The Home　and the World for Penguin Classics.
