　　而平剋在書中則花瞭很多筆墨去論證天生語法知識的存在。我認為他的論證可以分成幾類：1、語言普遍性論證 2、輸入貧乏論證 3、生理基礎論證

　　首先，字串模型會産生不齣一些閤文法的句子。根據字串模型，單詞與單詞之間必須要存在很高的轉接或然率。但我們的日常語言中卻存在某些句子，其單詞與單詞之間幾乎是沒有關聯的。平剋引用瞭喬姆斯基的句子“Colorless green ideas sleep furiously”。但按照我們的直接，盡管這些句子沒有意義，但卻是符閤語法的。並且，這種類型的句子經常會被當作是一種創作手法齣現在諸如詩歌、散文等文學作品中。但字串模型卻無法産生齣這種句子，因為每個單詞之間的轉接或然率都為0。

　　喬姆斯基在闡述自己的理論時，經常喜歡用一個例子：假如火星人造訪地球，他們一定會驚異於地球上所有的人都在說同一種語言。在這個例子中，他想錶明人類所使用的語言盡管紛繁多樣，但卻存在著共同的語法限製。而喬姆斯基認為，這些共同的語法限製，是先天語法結構的反映。
