作者简介

弗兰西斯?培根（1561—1626）英国政治家，散文家，著名的唯物主义哲学家与科学家。1561年出生在伦敦一官僚家庭，12岁时入剑桥大学三一学院，1582年获得律师资格，詹姆斯一世即位后仕途坦荡，1620年受封为子爵，后因被控受贿脱离官场，家居著述。主要代表作有《学术之进步》、《新工具》与《随笔集》等。
