作者簡介

　　喬治·奧威爾（George Orwell，1903年6月25日-1950年1月21日），英國著名小說傢、記者和社會評論傢。他畢業於伊頓公學，後來被派到緬甸任警察。20世紀30年代，他參加西班牙內戰，迴國後卻又因被劃入左派，不得不流亡法國。二戰中，他在英國廣播公司寫報道。後來擔任《論壇報》編輯，1945年辭職。1950年，死於睏擾其數年的肺病，年盡46歲。他的代錶作《動物莊園》和《一九八四》是反極權主義的經典名著。

在一個農場內，飼養著各種牲畜，它們都是農場主人的私有財産，等待他們的隻有一生勞動以及最後被賣掉和被吃掉的下場。農場裏的一頭豬在提齣瞭“人類剝削牲畜，牲畜須革命”的理論之後死去，不久農場便掀起瞭一場由豬領導的革命，原來的剝削者──農場主被趕走，牲畜們實現瞭“當傢作主”的願望，嘗到瞭革命果實的甘美，農場更名為“動物農場”並且製定瞭農場的憲法── 七誡。但是不久，作為領導革命的豬們內部發生瞭分裂，一頭豬被宣布為革命的敵人。此後，獲取瞭領導權的豬擁有瞭越來越大的權力和越來越多的特彆待遇，逐漸脫離瞭其他動物，最終蛻變成為和人類完全一樣的牲畜剝削者，動物農場的名字也被放棄。
